Encounters & Discoveries
Rooted in Polynesian spirit
Feel the pulse of the island, honor its ancestral traditions and let its spirit gently awaken your soul.
Taha'a, the Vanilla Island, and the sacred shores of Raiatea share the same crystal-clear lagoon. Together, they form a remarkable haven of serenity, where ancient traditions and natural wonders coexist in perfect harmony.
Explore the richness of Polynesian culture through a carefully curated collection of cultural encounters, island excursions and authentic experiences. And because the islands stand facing each other, every adventure is never far.
On Taha'a itself, explore its numerous hiking trails, or, if you prefer, set off on an e-bike. You can visit some of the island's vanilla plantations to absorb its sweet fragrance and understand the processes behind cultivating the world's favourite flavour.
Stop in at pearl boutiques, or head to the pearl farms themselves to understand appreciate the art of cultivating pearls and the astonishing range of colours produced on the island. Finally, reward yourself with a trip to Taha'a's two rum distilleries. You'll sample award-winning spirits made from rare varieties of sugarcane and understand how its cultivation is enjoying a local resurgence.
As the bigger island of the two, Raiatea is filled with lush jungle landscapes, exotic flora and fauna, with lazy jungle rivers and picturesque waterfalls. Hike amid flower-filled trails, or tackle Mount Temehani and its neighbouring ridges. Visit the boutiques of its main town, Uturoa, and discover the origins of the local maohi civilization at a sacred UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It goes without saying that both islands offer endless coastlines of rugged cliffs and white sandy beaches. Swim and snorkel in their warm waters, or dive to search for shipwrecks. Both islands are surrounded by miles of coral reef – ideal for renting a boat or jumping on a paddleboard to find a motu of your own.

Polynesian village
A BRIDGE TO THE PAST

Nothing can bring you closer to Polynesian culture than by directly participating in its traditions, crafts and culinary experiences. Our traditionnal Polynesian village celebrates different aspects of local culture: a space where past and present come together. Authentic fare (houses) with leafy roofs resting on pandanus trunks recreate the atmosphere of a traditional Polynesian community, where ancestral knowledge and crafts are passed down from generation to generation.

CULTURAL TRANSMISSION
Everyday at 3pm
In Polynesian culture, knowledge has never been written down, it has always been passed from hand to hand, from voice to voice, from generation to generation. Each craft, each gesture, each rhythm carries within it the memory of a people and the wisdom of the ancestors.
Every day at 3:00 pm, our local artisans invite you to step into this living tradition through wood carving, weaving, pareo tying, dance, ukelele and the iconic to'ere Tahitian drum. Not as spectators, but as participants in a culture that has shaped these islands for centuries.

POLYNESIAN SHOW
Every Tuesday on the paepae
Every Tuesday at 6:30 pm, our paepae comes alive. Inspired by the volcanic stone-paved public squares that once stood at the heart of Polynesian village life, our paepae pays homage to this age-old tradition. As the sun sets, let yourself be captivated by a performance of traditional dance and music, building to an unforgettable finale: a breathtaking fire dance that lights up the Polynesian night.

From Sunrise to Starlight
The rituals
08.00am
High above the garden, breakfast unfolds at its own unhurried pace. Filtered light through the canopy, and the scent of fresh fruit before the day has truly begun, this is already its finest moment.

10.00am
Just steps from the shore, the coral garden stirs with life. Warm, clear waters, a gentle current, and beneath the surface, a quietly breathtaking world waiting to be discovered.

12.00pm
Cold coconut in hand, feet in the sand, the lagoon stretching out before you. At Titiraina Restaurant, some pleasures are simply hard to beat.

2.00pm
A place to surrender to stillness. At Tavai Spa, ancient Polynesian rituals meet the art of modern wellbeing, leaving you restored, unhurried, and deeply at peace.

3.00pm
Every day, the Polynesian Village invites you to discover a new craft: wood carving, weaving, pareo tying, dancing, ukulele and the iconic Tahitian drum, the to'ere.

4.00pm
Tucked into the gardens, our ice cream parlour is a natural pause in the day, a scoop of something cold, a moment of shade, and the simple pleasure of doing absolutely nothing at all.

5.00pm
Our helipad and sunset hut face directly towards Bora Bora, framing the island as the sun slips beneath the horizon. Settle in with a drink and watch the sky ignite, its colours mirrored in the stillness of the lagoon below.

9.00pm
The remote location of our islands makes for remarkably dark skies once the sun has set. Guests can expect crystal-clear views of the constellations above, no matter where they are staying in the resort.
